The story behind the artist

Lisette Huizenga is a prominent Dutch digital artist, based in The Hague.

After a successful career in publishing – where she took over a bankrupt company at a young age and built it into a flourishing enterprise with 106,000 newspapers weekly in 14 years – she made a conscious career switch. She chose to follow her own life path and focus entirely on her artistic development.

In 2004, she was admitted to the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, where she graduated in 2009 with her 3D work Caleidoscopia. She continued her studies with digital painting and exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2015.

Her work is inspired by the evolution of Western painting, from the Renaissance to Mondrian, and explores themes such as space, time, illusion versus reality, and the beauty of life. Using advanced digital techniques, she creates paintings that exist not only in space but also in time – with layers, movement, and infinite scalability.

Central to Lisette's motivation is the conviction that the world itself is pure, clean, and beautiful. As a visual artist, she uses photos, textures, and fractals from this world to create images that represent an evolved version of that beauty. Through careful image development, she strives to always preserve the essence of beauty, but in a new, deeper, and often surprising form.

Many art lovers experience other dimensions in her work that extend beyond what we perceive with the naked eye. Lisette uses familiar elements from our world to express new, deeper realities.

She is a member of Pulchri Studio, curator of Evolution of Arts, and in addition to digital paintings, she also develops 3D animations and installations. From her studio in The Hague, she continues to innovate and create custom artworks that possess beauty, depth, and impact.
